The Climate of Costa Calida

Costa Calida in the Murcia region of Spain boasts a typical Mediterranean climate which attracts tourists throughout the year. The average annual temperature is approximately 18 C, with mild winters and hot summers. Maximum temperatures of 40 C have been reached, although they are typically lower. Winters are generally comfortable with an average temperature of 11 C.

Clear skies are frequent in Costa Calida, and sunshine occurs throughout the year. There are over 2800 hours of sunlight per annum, and very little rain. There is approximately 300-350 mm of rain per year, and the climate leans towards being semi-arid. Most of the rain occurs in the spring and autumn, with the months of April and October being the wettest.

 There are some regional variations in the climate throughout the area due primarily to winds and altitude. Coastal regions typically remain mild in the winter months, and inland temperatures can be colder. Further inland, temperatures can drop to 5 C in the winter whereas the coastal towns rarely get colder than 11C. On the whole, Costa Calida is renowned for its good climate which has attracted visitors and investors from all over the world.
